This natural Ethiopian is impossible to ignore! Vibrant, intensely fruity, and full of texture, it delivers a wonderfully enveloping mouthfeel with notes of small berries like raspberry, haskap, and blueberry, topped off with a delicate floral finish. The aftertaste is long and lively, with a bright acidity reminiscent of citrus and pomegranate juice. As a filter, it's round and creamy — almost like jam. As an espresso, the blueberry-dark chocolate pairing is simply perfect.
This coffee comes from the Guji zone, a high-altitude region renowned for producing some of the finest specialty coffees in Ethiopia. This lot was harvested by 130 small-scale producers, with the support of exporter Olkai.
Founded in 2018 by Tagel Alemayehu — a former race car driver turned coffee professional — Olkai has become a respected name in the Ethiopian specialty coffee scene. Tagel was born in Bule Hora, in the heart of a major coffee-growing region, where his father established the very first washing station. After years managing stations across Guji, he founded Olkai alongside his partner, who now leads the export operations. Together, they work with stations in the most sought-after areas: Guji, Bule Hora, and Sidama.
