About This Coffee

A delicate coffee that opens with floral and stone fruit aromas, such as white nectarine. As it cools, it reveals the sweetness of honeydew melon and cane sugar, with a silky texture. Its acidity, reminiscent of apple and pear, gives it a lovely liveliness.

Augusto founded Finca Las Asturias in 1985, becoming one of the first coffee producers in his region, despite the challenges of arid soils and landslides. In 2000, he turned to specialty coffee. Today, Augusto plays a key role in the development of Semilla, our coffee importer, in San Agustín. Respected in his community, he has helped bring many producers into the project and build relationships based on trust.

Looking ahead, Augusto hopes to keep taking on the challenges of coffee farming by planting new varieties and encouraging knowledge sharing and mutual support among producers.

This coffee is made possible by the work of Semilla as importer and Monkaaba at origin. Based in San Agustín, Colombia, Monkaaba is an initiative led by Esnaider Ortega Gómez that supports coffee producers in developing their skills and accessing better markets. Through knowledge sharing and collective cupping sessions, Monkaaba fosters their autonomy and more lasting relationships in the specialty coffee chain. Semilla supports this approach by building connections between producers and roasters.
