In August 2019, accompanied by Maya from Crop to Cup, our importing partner, we traveled to the coffee producing region of Cerrado Mineiro in Brazil. At São Luiz farm, we met Fausto do Espirito Santo Velloso and his two children, Ana Cecilia and Lúcio Gondim, producers of our Jolly Roger coffee. This marks our longest-standing relationship with a coffee farm, allowing us to offer their coffee for the sixth year in a row.
Jolly Roger promises a creamy and chocolatey espresso, delightful to drink black and perfectly complemented with milk. It's the kind of coffee you never get tired of, thanks to its accessibility and consistent quality.
São Luiz farm is an impressive operation that, despite significant production volumes, manages to offer exceptionally high-quality coffee. Pioneers in coffee processing techniques in the region, São Luiz, under Fausto's passionate guidance, has contributed to the evolution of specialty coffee in Brazil. Today, Fausto is gradually passing on the farm's management to Ana and Lúcio. This new generation is determined to explore the innovative boundaries of specialty coffee. They adopt a model focused on valuing people, cultivating authentic and transparent relationships with their team and customers. Always in search of new technologies and open to experimentation, Ana and Lúcio strive to evolve in the sphere of specialty coffee.
They also collaborate with Aequitas, a coffee production and exporting company founded by Yuki Minani. Aequitas represents an exemplary model of good practices in Brazil, ensuring that all stakeholders in the supply chain are treated with respect and receive the recognition they deserve.
