HAND IN HAND - PAS DE LA RUE

The sixth Hand in hand bag will support PAS de la rue this year, a community organization whose mission is to welcome, support, and accompany people aged 55 and over who are experiencing homelessness or severe precarity, with a focus on inclusion, stability, and empowerment.

The organization welcomes participants at its two day centres, located in Montreal’s Centre-Sud and Mercier-Est neighbourhoods, where it offers a continuum of essential services: reception, healthy and balanced meals, social activities, and psychosocial support. PAS de la rue also promotes access to housing and residential stability by managing 67 subsidized housing units with community support.

In total, the organization reaches and supports more than 1,200 seniors through its services.

The label was created by TØ, a Montreal-based image maker. His work blends urban myths and collective imagination to explore community life and everyday connections. He is known for his surreal, colourful imagined cities, expressed across a range of mediums, from screen-printed posters to large-scale murals.

Inside the bag, you’ll find a blend of two coffees we have been serving for several years. On one side, a Burundian coffee from the Gikingo washing station, where the collective work of hundreds of producers has been rooted in preservation and consistency for over thirty years. On the other, a coffee from Martha Lícida, a producer in San Sebastián who has developed her farm over the decades with care and independence. 

The result? A classic cup with notes of chocolate wafer cookies and golden brown sugar, with a gentle acidity reminiscent of yellow apple.
