Erlan's grandfather was the first of his family line to plant coffee in the El Paraíso region of Honduras. Today, Erlan Antonio works alongside his brothers and father, Pedro, on the family-owned land dedicated to coffee and various other crops. In 2011, he also transformed a piece of acquired pasture into coffee land, which has since become his farm, La Cumbre. It is at La Cumbre that grows the coffee that we are so pleased to present to you today.
This coffee was specially roasted with espresso in mind. It develops beautiful notes of chocolate-hazelnut spread and buttery caramel, lifted by a bright acidity reminiscent of marmalade. It pairs wonderfully with milk, delivering a sweet, indulgent flat white with a remarkable long finish. As a filter brew, it offers a classic, comforting autumn cup, enhanced by an elegant aromatic complexity.
The Parainema coffee variety is a hybrid of Arabica and Robusta coffee, developed in the very department of El Paraíso, where Erlan's coffee also grows. This variety has proven itself in Honduras in recent years, consistently ranking among the country's top ten coffees in the Honduras Cup of Excellence, even winning first place in 2017. In addition to its impressive flavors, this variety is resistant to several devastating coffee diseases due to its crossbreeding with Robusta. A winning varietal all around!
