Rudy's coffee is your everyday go-to. As a filter, you'll find a silky texture with sweet notes reminiscent of toffee and a light, juicy acidity leaning toward nectarine. As an espresso, the texture becomes creamy, with a pleasant hint of acidity that finishes on caramel and nut butter.
Rudy has been surrounded by coffee since childhood. From a very young age, he and his brother would germinate seeds and grow small plants, wrapping them in plantain leaves to protect the roots. Without land of their own, they would sell these plants to neighbours looking to get into coffee farming. At 15, his father finally inherited a plot of land, and Rudy officially began his career as a producer. Today, at 60, he has been cultivating his own land for over 38 years.
For nine years, he has also been a member of the Café Colis Resistencia collective, which defends the territory of the Xinca people against a silver mine and works to provide the community with better sales opportunities beyond the local Guatemalan market.
We are very proud to support, thanks to the incredible work of our importing partner Semilla, another producer of the resistance. To learn more about their struggle, we invite you to visit the profile we have prepared on the Lemus family, who are also part of the resistance.
