About This Coffee

A Central American coffee with the juicy, sweet side of an apple and a lingering finish of cocoa and sugar. As an espresso, its texture and sweetness are reminiscent of butterscotch. As a filter coffee, it shows lovely delicacy and a vibrancy that takes us back to apple season. Comforting, yet with just enough acidity to make you want another sip.

Finca La Soledad sits in the heart of Acatenango, Guatemala, and covers 90 hectares, of which only half is dedicated to production; the rest is left as natural forest, a choice that protects the ecosystem and strengthens the quality of the terroir.

Raúl Pérez is a sixth-generation producer. Together with his father Henio, his mother Mercedes, and his brother José, he constantly refines their processing methods to reveal the full potential of their coffees. Finca La Soledad is also known for its attention to detail and its washed coffees, made with exceptional care.

The Perez family uses a traditional washed process: ripe cherries are picked by hand, fermented for 40 to 45 hours, then washed and dried on raised African beds for 12 to 18 days. This process yields a clean, vibrant cup with floral, citrus, and tropical notes, a silky body, and lovely complexity.
