Tero is the name of Getachew Zeleke’s farm, the founder of the export group Dimtu. Tero brings together coffee from Getachew’s farm and from 120 smallholder producers of the surrounding hills. A beautiful washed Ethiopian coffee, just the way we like it: from the very first sip, you taste aromas of white peach followed by a subtle buttery and creamy note. Mid-palate, the sweetness leans toward honey, accompanied by floral undertones and a bright, pleasant acidity. The finish is long, marked by the complexity of black tea, which brings a certain structure to the cup of coffee.
Long before he started growing coffee, Getachew was an accountant. Thanks to his savings, he was able to buy a piece of land in Addis Ababa. In 2008, as real estate prices soared, he sold that land and used the proceeds to buy a plot of farmland, that later became Tero farm. Step by step, he began harvesting his own coffee cherries, then collecting from local producers as well, selling the dried cherries on the local market. In 2016, he built his own washing station and shifted his focus to specialty coffee: Dimtu Coffee Industry was born.
But it didn’t stop there. Unhappy with the pace and quality of local dry mills, Getachew decided to build one himself. The result? Full control over every step, from cherry to export. And that’s exactly what we love. That attention to detail, the commitment to quality, the accountant’s mindset… it all makes Getachew an outstanding partner!
