The Pledge : transparency.coffee
This is the first year we’ve had the chance to feature the Proyecto Berruecos lot, produced by 44 smallholder farmers from Arboleda. But we’ve actually been supporting this project for three years already, in different ways: by buying coffee from Francy Castillo, a decaf lot that brought together several producers, and last year, a lot produced by women from the region.
The Berruecos project is truly close to our hearts. It’s led by the incredible Francy Castillo, a producer as talented as she is inspiring. She collects parchment coffee directly from smallholder farmers at her collection center. Thanks to this, even isolated communities can access the specialty coffee market and receive premium prices. Francy also travels to the villages to learn about their needs, provide technical support, and offer access to the tools and resources that make a difference in day-to-day work. It’s truly amazing to see her in action, with all her humanity and dedication to her community!
But this project isn’t just about great coffee. It contributes to real, sustainable development in the coffee sector: better farming practices, environmental protection, more inclusion and competitiveness — with a strong focus on producers, young people, and women.
