The Pledge : transparency.coffee
It’s already been four years that we’ve had the pleasure of sharing these beautiful Burundian beans with you, sourced from the Gikingo washing station, nestled in the commune of Gashoho, in the Muyinga province. Established in 1991, Gikingo takes its name from the Kirundi word Gukinga, which means “to preserve” or “to protect.” A name that echoes our own vision of coffee: a story to tell, a quality to uphold.
Each year, 900 coffee producers from the surrounding hills bring their harvests to Gikingo. For this particular lot, the cherries of 450 of them were selected. As an espresso, it offers a syrupy texture, a light yet well-balanced acidity, and an extremely sweet finish. As a filter coffee, it’s more delicate, with notes reminiscent of dried mango, a hint of black tea, and a floral touch. Both comforting and easy to drink, it’s a beautifully complex cup, balancing exotic fruit and caramel.
