In the summer of 2023, we had the privilege of being welcomed to Colombia’s Nariño region by none other than the remarkable Francy Castillo. Following her enthusiastic steps and infectious laughter, we made our way up a narrow and challenging path, reaching over 2,000 meters above sea level, until we finally arrived at her coffee farm. The view across the mountains was breathtaking — and Francy’s hospitality, even more so.

Francy and her four sisters grew up helping their parents on the family coffee farm, which inspired her to study agronomy in order to support the family business. After graduating in 2019, she joined the FNC as a field assistant in her hometown of Arboleda, and later gained valuable experience in sensory development while working at a private export lab. Since then, her passion for coffee has only grown, making her one of the most innovative producers in Nariño.

Today, she works on both her own farm and the family land, while also sharing her expertise with over 900 small-scale producers in the region. She leads the Berruecos project, which she helped establish, creating a central collection point that offers better services and improved access to the specialty coffee market compared to what was previously available in Berruecos.

Her work and generosity are truly remarkable, and we are beyond proud to share once again one of her exceptional coffees with you.
