It is often said that love makes you crazy and ZAB is head over heels about Berruecos, a small village located in the hills of Nariño. Charmed by the region and its coffee cultivation, we are ABSOLUTELY spoiled to have three lots from this village and happy to offer it as a bundle. We're crazy like that!
We had the chance to taste this pink bourbon directly from the cherry and also roasted by Francy during a cupping. In the coffee world since forever, she is, among other things, a producer and exporter and constantly works to improve the quality and practices on her land, her family's, and those of over 900 producers in the region.
The complexity and aromatic profile of this gold bag are incredible, with notes of guava, pineapple, rose, and small white flowers. It was our favorite among her coffees. It's vibrant and full of energy, just like Francy.
Fidencio's story in coffee spans decades. His farm, La Finca El Pedregal, has been a pioneer in coffee cultivation in Arboleda. He discovered the world of specialty coffee because of Francy!
As drip coffee, it's complex and aromatic, with acidity reminiscent of raspberry and pomegranate. Its texture is a bit like chocolate syrup. As espresso, it's bursting with flavors: cherry, pineapple, and apricot. The body is round, and the finish is very juicy. This is Fred’s 2024 favorite.
When the idea came up to have an exclusive blend created with the coffees of the women of Berruecos, we jumped on the opportunity. Mujeres de Berruecos is a blend of coffees from 32 female producers from the Proyecto Berruecos. Under Francy's direction, this initiative supports and enhances agricultural practices and production quality.
It's a delicate and sweet cup, reminiscent of grape juice, with a digestive and floral aspect. The texture in espresso is syrupy with a beautiful acidity, and as drip coffee, it's delicious! It's a coffee that stands alone and it is part of the Return to Origin initiative, where $0.50 of every bag sold will be donated to the Proyecto Berruecos.
