The coffee-growing community of Bellavista is located in the southernmost Mexican state of Chiapas. The community is nestled in the Mexican part of the Sierra Madre mountain range, at altitudes ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 meters, and is led by the remarkable Rosalba Cifuentes Tovía.
Rosalba is a truly inspiring woman, who works wholeheartedly within her community. She offers her grower-partners much higher prices and quality premiums, supports them with interest-free loans, and works tirelessly to make a difference in the coffee world.
Bellavista is a difficult region for women, where they are victims of much violence and receive very little recognition for their work. Right from the start, Rosalba knew she wanted to put the spotlight on Bellavista’s women working in the coffee industry. These women meet and together build an unrivalled support group, the "Grupo de mujeres de Bellavista". Rosalba is in charge of selling the coffee, but all exchanges are completely transparent.
It's also thanks to Balam, our import partner, that we can offer you this coffee from Rosalba's family, who also farm in Bellavista. We're proud to be able to contribute to Rosalba's project, and hope you enjoy her coffee as much as we do.
