Don Francisco and Blanca Nieve's El Diamante farm is located in the coffee producing region of Jinotega, responsible for more than 80% of the country's total coffee production. The town, nicknamed "Las Brumas" (the mists), is located in a long valley enjoying a cool climate created by the surrounding mountains.
They were among the first farmers to collaborate with our import partner Gold Mountain Coffee Growers. At the time, both their farm and Gold Mountain were members of a certified cooperative that suffered from poor management and did not allow farm families to earn a sufficient income. Gold Mountain provided them with financing and market access, which in turn allowed them to triple the size of their first farm (El Diamante) and purchase a second.
The collaboration with Gold Mountain also allowed them to improve their wet mill and produce this specialized batch of coffee, which is larger in volume than their usual micro-lots, but rivals in quality.
This coffee has won numerous medals at the Golden Bean North America roasting competition served as filter coffee, espresso and even in the espresso with milk category.
