The Gathaithi Farmer's Cooperative Society is located between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges, which places it in the center of the Kenyan highlands. Their factory is located near Nairobi, about 160 km as the crow flies, in the Tetu district of Nyeri County.
In 2000, these farmers broke away from the Giant Tetu Coffee Farmers Society to form their own cooperative and now have 1,542 members. Each year, they set aside funds from current harvests to pre-finance school fees, access to agricultural inputs and to create funds for emergency needs.
