Steady climate, dry-fresh winters, warm-wet summers... Dry winds in pleasantly hot days and refreshingly cool nights... Sounds like the dream place for one’s vacation, am I right? In fact, it is the perfect condition for amazing beans to be grown. This is what you find in the region where Daterra farms are located. Their farms in the city of Patrocinio are the oldest coffee plantations in the Brazilian Cerrado region, and it is amongst the best coffee producing areas in the country. All plantations are located at an average altitude of over 900 m. and some terroirs are around 1200 MASL.

This particular offering is part of Daterra’s Masterpiece program, which includes the very best and unique lots of coffees; their masterpieces. This very small farm is in fact a lab, where they test new ways of producing coffee. The lab is rich with new and unusual varietals, processing methods, drying techniques and limitless experiments. Each coffee has a unique cup profile and score 88+, is fully traceable, planted and grown with history and can never be replicated.

This coffee in quite special indeed, it is an Aramosa varietal, a crossbreed between Arabica coffee and Racemosa. This crossbreeding was performed to inherit Racemosa’s low caffeine and drought resistance and Arabica’s flavor. Because the plant produces less caffeine, the beans always taste very sweet with no bitterness. Not only is its varietal an innovation providing incredibly sweet beans, it is also fermented using the anaerobic method, a no oxygen fermentation technique that gives this Aramosa coffee a boost of its already dazzling flavors.
